7 Most Effective Ways to Prevent Breast Cancer

The most effective way to prevent breast cancer is not recommended by me so I will number it 0 (zero). If I were in English class, I bet my teacher would not allow this.

0. The doctors tested this and found this treatment was 90% effective at preventing breast cancer. This means that out of 100 people that would have gotten breast cancer, only 10 would get it.

This medical procedure is called bilateral prophylactic mastectomy or prophylactic bilateral mastectomy or prophylactic double mastectomy. This shows that I keep up with the latest in medicine. Bilateral means both sides. Prophylactic means that it is for prevention or preventing breast cancer. Mastectomy means cutting it off.

This means cutting off both of them to prevent you from getting breast cancer. Christina Applegate got this after getting cancer in one breast. I do not suggest it since these 7 ways to prevent breast cancer are extremely powerful.

1. Try to be at your ideal weight and avoid being overweight. This is one of the classic ways to prevent breast cancer listed by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

2. Make sure to get plenty of exercise. This is another classic way to prevent breast cancer and it is effective beyond helping you to be at your ideal weight.

3. Another classic way to prevent breast cancer is to avoid or limit alcohol. The links are blue colored. These 3 ways are all listed by the CDC. CDC-- Breast Cancer Prevention

4. Get plenty of sleep. This will help you to have less stress which is another way to prevent breast cancer. It also strengthens your immune system and helps you in other ways. In fact all of these ways will help you in other areas.

A study showed that people who get less than 7 hours of sleep a night are 3 times more likely to get the flu than people who get over 8 hours of sleep a night. Maria Carey said that she had a nervous breakdown due to lack of sleep. Studies also show that more sleep helps you lose more excess weight.

5. Get enough vitamin D. Moores Cancer Center proposes that cancer is a vitamin D deficiency. Most Americans are vitamin D deficient. Doctor of Pubic Public Health, Cedric Garland says that ENOUGH vitamin D will virtually eradicate breast cancer. That is his job-- to find the cause of diseases and end them.

6. Get iodine by consuming kelp or other seaweeds. Lack of iodine is causing cancers and thyroid problems. See: Health Benefits of Seaweed Like Kelp. The Japanese are the longest living people in the world (of places that keep birth records) and they eat a lot of seaweed. Unlike foods grown on land, seaweed (or sea vegetables) are loaded with trace minerals.

Before I tell more about food, here are cancer-preventative proven strategies from Dr. Joseph Mercola (O.D.-- osteopathic physician). Get optimal sun exposure (for vitamin D). Get right amount of exercise. Get enough omega-3 fats. Eat plenty of vegetables. Get enough selenium in diet. Good sources of this are are organic vegetables and apples. Make sure to consume ground flaxseeds. The high amounts of omega-3 essential fatty acids in it will help you with many things including preventing breast cancer. It also contains lignans that have a weak estrogen effect that blocks strong estrogen.

Consume green tea which not only prevents cancer but helps you to stay thin. It is the most alkaline food that there is and alkaline foods help you to avoid diseases associated with aging.

Consume fermented soybean products that will help. Consume plenty of the cabbage family or cruciferous vegetables. Make sure to also consume berries that are great for cardiovascular health and preventing cancer.

Also if you see my article, 17 Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee, it has a link to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America saying that coffee prevents breast cancer. Coffee is a plant food and is alkaline according to Dr. Ragnar Berg's chart (on above article) from the 1930s. He was a biochemist and nutritionist.

Coffee has an alkaline value of 5.6 making it better than any acid foods, but green tea has an alkaline value of 53.50. So you can say that it is 9 times more powerful than coffee. But like I said above, green tea is the most alkaline food that there is.

Studies show that the more green tea you drink, the less chance you have of getting cancer according to the book Anticancer by an M.D. (I read a lot). This doctor got cancer and the doctors cured it. But then it came back!

Note that the cancer that John Edwards' wife had and Steve Jobs had was cancer that was cured and came back. So then this doctor investigated all these natural ways of curing cancer and cured it himself and it did not come back. Then he wrote the book after being free of cancer for 15 years. He also became a vegetarian because of what he learned.

This is why the Chinese drink green tea instead of water. The Chinese are the world expert on herbs. Even in their hospitals using modern medicine, they use herbs. Do you know what the best herb in China is, considering that they have ginseng, licorice, dong quai and thousands more? It is green tea. That is why they drink it daily.

Also the Chinese believe in karma. That is the golden rule or the idea that "as you sow, so shall you reap" as taught by Jesus. So that is why in Chinese restaurants (at least in America), they always serve you green tea with your meal and there is no charge for it (free). Also you can drink as much as you want for free.

When I lived in Philadelphia, I ate at Singapore Chinese Vegetarian Restaurant every week for over a decade. It is in Chinatown around 10th and Race Streets. They are experts at making fake meats. Before going there I never tasted duck before. I loved Singapore's fake duck so much, I had them add it to every dish that I got there.

Later I tried real duck at a buffet and it was greasy and not as good as this fake duck. Also it is unhealthy to drink liquids with foods since it dilutes the stomach acids The fruits that are loaded with water like watermelon do not need to be digested.

They pass right through the stomach so it is best to eat them first on an empty stomach and wait 15 minutes before eating other foods. My friends and I have been doing this for decades and none of us are overweight. This is part of the Diet Strategy of Losing Weight and Curing Diabetes.

It is best to wait at least an hour after eating to drink liquid. So drink all the liquid you want before eating. So while I was waiting for my food, I would drink about a quart or more of Singapore's special tea (FREE of course) called Pu-erh tea that was red. Wikipedia says:
While unaged and unprocessed, raw pu-erh is technically a type of green tea.

This looked like a great article that I wanted to save. I have been doing yoga since age 12. The last position, pose or posture is the corpse pose. I would do it for 20 minutes so that is like a meditation that I have been doing since age 12. From website below:

These benefits were proven through modern medicine studies. There was a great article in the Huffington Post about food as medicine. The Chinese have been doing this for thousands of years. That is why the Chinese drink tea as a beverage. This article is by an M.D. Drugs or medications have side effects and are not good for health or healthy.

What you put at the end of your fork is more powerful medicine than anything you will find at the bottom of a pill bottle. Food is the most powerful medicine available to heal chronic disease, which will account for more than 50 million deaths and cost the global economy $47 trillion by 2030. All you need to do is eat your medicine and think of your grocery store as your pharmacy. The Chinese have known this for centuries.
 This article is similar to other article, GOMBBS by an M.D., that is talked about on my other blog on this website. GOMBBS stands for greens, onions, mushrooms, berries, beans and seeds and nuts. This article divides the foods up into color groups.

The red group has the phytochemical lycopene. This article calls them phytontrients but the original word for them was phytochemicals. Lycopene is for cardiovascular health and for preventing or fighting cancer. The orange foods contain alpha-carotene which protects against cancer.

The orange/yellow foods may help prevent heart disease. It says that the red/purple foods prevent heart disease but I also know that that they are very effective in preventing cancer also. The white/green foods are anti-tumor foods so they are also good for preventing cancer.

There is a yellow/green group that has the leafy greens. I  know that greens help the inner lining of the arteries to resist the build up of plaque (not on the article). The following is not on the article either. The best source of the B vitamin folic acid or folate is greens.

Actually the green group on this article is like the cabbage family foods like broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. The phytochemicals in these help to ward off cancer.

Folate | Folic Acid

A recent study in the British Journal of Nutrition found that those with the highest folate levels, lose 8.5 times more weight when dieting. When folate levels drop, levels of obesity, heart disease, stroke, cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease and depression goes up.

They used to say that folic acid and folate are the same thing. Now they are saying that folate is the kind in foods and folic acid is the kind in supplements and the folic acid does not work anywhere near as good as the folate in foods. I say that it is better to eat foods than to eat chemicals.

This should be folate that comes from food. They have found that the artificial form of folate, folic acid, can produce some problems in people so Joel Fuhrman M.D. says that no one should take supplements containing folic acid. On the other hand, there is a lot of folate in greens and beans.

Folic acid is a B vitamin and is also known as folate. There was a study with this done with 2 groups of women. One group of women were 43 to 70. The other group was 23 to 44.

When they increased their intake of folic acid to 800 mcg with supplements and food, the younger group had a decreased risk of high blood pressure (hypertension) of 45%. The older group had a decreased risk of high blood pressure of 39%.

If people have a deficiency of folic acid, vitamin B-6 or B-12, it can cause homocysteine levels to rise. Homocysteine is an amino acid in the blood that is created by the liver. Elevated amounts of homocysteine in the blood put people at an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes.

It sounds to me like these people were not eating enough food high in folic acid like dark green leafy vegetables that include kale, swiss chard, spinach, romaine lettuce or vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower. People should still make sure to eat organic green vegetables. They have nutrients in them that activate something inside the blood vessel called the Nrf2 mechanism that prevents plaque from binding to blood vessels and accelerates the rate at which fat melts away from the inside of the blood vessel.
