7 Serious Health Benefits of Apples

This article motivated me to buy and eat organic apples. It is good for losing weight, heart health and preventing diabetes. There is mention of it preventing heart attacks, but no mention of reducing strokes even though a stroke is like a heart attack in the brain.

6 Serious Health Benefits of Apples

1. It is a good source of souble fiber.

2. A study showed that it helped people to lose weight.

3. It lowers your risk of death from both coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease.

4. It says:
People who eat apples may be less likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome, a cluster of symptoms linked to an increased risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Joyce Hendley reported in EatingWell Magazine that researchers who analyzed National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES) data, a survey of eating and health habits, found that people who had eaten apples in any form over the past day were 27 percent less likely to have symptoms of metabolic syndrome than those who didn't.
The apple eaters also had lower levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation whose presence in the blood suggests an increased risk for heart disease and diabetes.
5. The quercetin in it helps people to exercisie longer.

6. It is a very good source of vitamin C

But I also found this article:

Research Shows Apples Prevent Stroke

It says:
A recent study from researchers at Wageningen University in the Netherlands published in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association indicates fruits with white flesh such as apples and pears can reduce the risk of stroke by 52%. Strokes are the third leading cause of death in the United states with over 143,579 people dying each year. Approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke annually meaning 650,000 survive their stroke and are left to suffer the post-stroke health conditions for the remainder of their lives.

8 Foods That Can Reduce Breast Cancer Risk

This is a recent article that I thought was impressive.

8 Foods That Can Reduce Breast Cancer Risk

This says that sulforaphane is a compound in broccoli-- one of the 8 foods. It is actually a phytochemical like lycopene in tomatoes, resveratrol in grapes or curcumin in tumeric. Phytochemicals are chemicals, compounds or substances in plant that help the health of the body. There are thousands of them. A group of doctors at Johns Hopkins found that broccoli sprouts had a lot more sulforaphane than broccoli.

But the amounts varied greatly. So they bred broccoli sprouts to be extra high in sulforaphane and patented them. They are sold in the supermarket under the name of Brocco broccoli sprouts.

The first one on the list is actually 2-- plums and peaches. They have the antioxidant levels of blueberries. Actually all the berries are bery very good at preventing and fighting cancer. Plums and peaches seem very similar to berries compared to other fruits like a banana or an  orange.

Here is my article on Great Foods that Fight Cancer for you to compare. They are very effective against breast cancer. It also has the source of where the infromation comes from.

There are no good food sources of vitamin D so if you cannot get enough from the sun, you need to take vitamin D supplements. See all the great news about breast cancer and vitamin D on this article Vitamin D and Breast Cancer.

Foods That Are Great for Hair

The strange and funny thing about these foods that give you gorgous hair is that they are foods that I really love. Some are talked about below and here is the link to the article about them

The Best Foods for Gorgeous Hair

As far as the kale, if you put some tahini (sesame seed butter) on it, it tastes great just like that. Chick peas are the only beans that I love cold. Strawberries are red like the heart and has 4 chambers like the heart. It is  very healthy for the heart. Many people besides me love strawberries. If you combine chickpeas or garbanzo beans, you get hummus.

I do not eat meat anymore but I did like chicken. As far as peanuts, I do not like them if they are shelled. So I buy them unshelled and do the work to shell each one before I eat it. They do taste much better that way. The same with walnuts.

I also love lentils. I eat them cooked with brown rice and also sprout them and eat them raw.

6 Yoga Poses for Depression and Anxiety

Depression and anxiety are mental health issues. But yoga has been designed to heal both mind and body. Here is a Huffington Post article about this. It is mostly pictures with a description underneath it. The most ancient scriptures known to the world are from India and they talk about yoga. It is a rapidly growing practice in America.

Gwyneth Paltrow is in Vanity Fair Magazine topless after having 2 children. She says that she looks so good because of diet and yoga. I believe that she is a vegan.

There is also an article about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton doing yoga to stay in good condition. There are many articles about her husband, Bill Clinton, being a vegan. Their daughter, Chelsea, has been a vegetarian for many years.

The names of the various asanas or poses are in themselves indications of the purpose they are supposed to fulfill: warrior pose for confidence and strength, wind-releasing pose for stomach problems and so on.
